Our Commitment to Inclusion

These past couple of years have demanded us to take a step back, reflect, listen to our teams and start to put together strategies to move us towards a truly inclusive culture. A culture that enables high performance both on and off the field. One where there is a Jersey for Everyone.
We have set ambitious goals that weave through the core of the WRU Group Strategy. These goals will be tested, challenged and measured regularly and we will hold our leaders and teams accountable through performance conversations and supportive learning.

We aspire to do this by;
- Fostering connections and unlocking the potential of every individual
- Creating vibrant, inclusive communities and teams
- Celebrating our shared passion and strengthening our collective identity.

Our EDI Plan brings together all the threads that weave through the strategy into a single document demonstrating our commitments across five key areas; People with disabilities, Gender equality, LGBTQIA+, Lower socio-economic groups and Ethnically diverse backgrounds.
Our mission is:

“To represent and reflect the diverse spirit of ‘One Wales’ through the unifying power of our national sport”

There are areas where our commitment to inclusion is strong. Since the launch of the WRU ‘Jersey for All’ Community Strategy we have seen significant growth across our disability rugby offerings, including the achievement of the InSport Disability Gold award, growth of the Women & Girls game and meaningful work with Low-Socio Economic Groups with our WRU Fit Fed Fun Programme with partner WE Soda.
We are not complacent in this space, we commit to ensuring that our clubs provide welcoming, safe and inclusive environments and facilities for everyone that wants to be involved in our game
Most importantly, our people are critical to our success and creating a psychologically safe workplace where people are free to raise their concerns and be heard is at the heart of our goals. We commit to more learning opportunities for our team members, raising the profile of our networks that support our team members voices and to developing recruitment opportunities that diversify our teams.
